Chains of Metaphor

The chains may have been removed but the smell of the oppression and self destruction from being too long under remain.
All around me i see people giving up on life,just to find the product that goes in the pipe.
One hit.Bliss.
And true,that may be,but more than one,and you're thrown into a spiral when the habit becomes your home.
Rent money gone before it's due,due for the addiction,self neglect and abuse.
It's a battle under different names.
Smack,it's a hit in the face.
Crack/Cocaine a right hook to the jaw.
And so many fall for the temporary escape, not recognizing the cage that has already been set around them.
Unable to see because it's with in.
So they serve life to roll the dice an take a chance to OD,but it's okay,it's their right to do what they want.
Dealers may as well change the trade and sell guns.
Instead of getting wasted, may as well play Russian Roulette for fun.
